NFL Week 1 2009

It"s never too early to get a jump on the football betting season. Sportsbook.com has released the NFL pontspeads for week 1 of the 2009 pro football schedule and we"ve found a couple of wagering lines that we think are out of whack.

Although we normally don"t like playing on the previous season"s Super Bowl winner in Week 1 of the NFL regular season, we do see some value in laying the points and taking the Steelers. The Titans rode their defense last season to a 13-3 record in 2008, finishing 2nd in the league in points per game allowed. Haynesworth was a big part of this with his dominating play on the line and the loss of him will most definitely effect their run defense as well as their pass pressure. Pittsburgh also comes into this Week 1 game with revenge on their minds after be crushed on the scoreboard and against the point spread 31 -14. Toss in that the fans will be a buzz with yet another Super Bowl banner going up on game day.

Another game that we think the bookmakers have overvalued a team in the Week one lines are the Tampa Bay Bucs. As many of you know the linesmaker shades the point spread 3 points for the home team, so they"re basically saying that the Cowboys and Bucs on a neutral playing field would be a pick"em game? Sure Dallas are without Owens this season but the core of the offense has been kept intact versus a Tampa team that has no real quarterback and a new head coach!

Good luck this season and make sure that you check back frequently for updated Week 1 game lines and possibly some more picks.
